You don't - so use Paypal if you possibly can, or WorldPay.

Otherwise if in doubt, go elsewhere.

The best way - if you do not trust a website DO NOT USE IT.

Look on google for things like REVIEWS and see what is said.

NEVER use a credit card online, always use a prepaid card - this will prevent serious fraud.

Never store passwords if your computer becomes infected people can shop

Always use firewall / antivirus / antispyware

Do regualar updates of everything.

And as said if you do not trust it - do not use it. It is the job of the owners of all websites to get themselves trusted.

Another thing to look out for is SSL - real webstores will invest in the FAR MORE EXPENSIVE version which gives them a green bar in the browser, not the cheap $10 version which gives a padlock.

Trustable websites start HTTPS:// for any login etc

There are many clues.

But checking the website details is a good start.
