I am a DOD contractor employed by a company that paid my relocation costs to work on a specific DOD contract. The relocation agreement says I must remain with the company for 12 months or pay back the full relocation cost. The company lost the rebid on the contract for which I was hired. The contract expires in 3 months and the company has not notified the employees yet that it lost the rebid (even though the info is on the web and that is why I know). If I leave the company at the end of the contract, which will be 9 months of employment not 12, will I be liable for relocation costs and required to pay back my company? I want to move on to a different company.

Since you know what's going on, get your ducks in a row. Don't make any large purchases, etc. I think what the agreement really means is that if you quit you have to pay back the relocation costs. If they lay you off or otherwise end your employment that's not your responsibility and you won't have to pay back the relocation costs. Depending on how much they were you may find it cost effective to hire a lawyer if it comes to that. Basically, you're willing to stay and do your job. If they end your job (for whatever reason) they're stuck. You'll have to wait it out and see what happens. They may find something else for you to do. If they do, don't argue. As long as they're paying you you'll have to abide by the contract or agreement.

The organization is on the whole to blame for a settlement worker in case of twist of fate. In case the organization can't pay, the significant enterprise shoulders the reimbursement under the desirable provisions of the hard artwork rules.
