I am mailing an important letter to a friend and I am going to add signature confirmation. If I do that only my friend (the person named on the letter) can sign and receive the letter right?

I believe that you are correct. However, you never know if the delivery person adheres to the rules. Sometimes a signature just requires that any person at the address can sign for the letter. It is possible with some carriers, you can actually see the name of the signer or the actual signature online as part of their services. I recommend that you ask the carrier EXACTLY how their signature service works, particularly if you want ONLY the recipient and not their roommate, spouse, children, assistant, to open the item. Another security feature would that you can email the link for the item to the recipient who can see the tracking information at the same time you are tracking it.

All signature confirmation means is that somebody was home to take the package. Doesn't have to be the recipient.
