So I own this site that I started (multiplesources.net) and I am currently using Weebly. It was easy to use at first but theres some features that I know WordPress has that I want that Weebly does not have. I bought the Domain name too. I was wondering if it is at all possibly to just transfer the information from Weebly to WordPress. I don't care about the template, just the pages, posts and pictures that i want to be moved over.

Also, can I use the URL multiplesources.net instead of multiplesources.wordpress.com if I use WordPress as my hosting site?

Thanks

Well one thing is for sure this is not a task for the faint of heart :)

It can be done (mostly) but you need a few things to do it.

First you need to set up your wordpress blog where you are going to be moving to

Then you need to install an RSS import plugin for Wordpress

Now you need to go to Weebly and make note of how your pages and posts are showing (domainname.com/month/year/postname)

Then you need to go into the setting on Wordpress and set permalinks to be that same format

Now you can download the RSS from Weebly - if you need help doing that get an account at Google Reader and download all of the posts then transfer them from ATOM to RSS

Now you can import them into Wordpress.

You will probably still end up needing to reupload and fix some of the images and pages, but that will get you as close as you can get

Hi,

I can't help you out with the static pages, but if you also have a blog on Weebly, you can use my free web app (http://weeblyrss.appspot.com/) to move your Weebly blog to WordPress. This app generates RSS feed for your entire Weebly blog. You can then import this RSS on your WordPress installation (see Ask Steve's answer for additional info). Just make sure it's self-hosted WP blog, since wordpress.com doesn't allow you to import RSS.

1. Get a domain from godaddy or cnahost.com

2. Get a host (http://www.cnahost.com)

3. Get wordpress (http://www.wordpress.org)

4. Upload wordpress

5. Install wordpress

6. Install wordpress plugins (http://wordpressfreeplugins.com)

Hi,

I work in an I.T. company that may be able to do the import for you. However, we require some more details.

Wordpress contains an import function, which allows data from other platforms to be exported.
