The $100,000 Gold Certificate was used only for official transactions between Federal Reserve Banks and was not circulated among the general public. This note cannot be legally held by currency note collectors.

Although it is quite unlikely anyone will come after you for owning one, I still suggest you delete your question. Posting that you are breaking the law is never a particularly good idea.

The fact that the bills are illegal also makes them difficult to price since people making illegal sales usually do not advertise. It is also more difficult to determine if the bills are forgeries because they are illegal to own.

Some people seem certain that they own real $100,000 Gold Certificates. Others seem equally certain all of them outside of the government must be forgeries because the government has accounted for all of them that were printed.

My recommendation is that you contact one or members of the Professional Currency Dealers Association for more information. You can find the members nearest you at

Are you sure it is a $100,000.00 gold 1934 and not a $10,000.00 bill!?

There were no $100,000.00 bills released for circulation, the highest was $10,000.00. $100,000.00 dollar bills were made for transactions between banks ONLY! The $100,000.00 bill would have President Wilson and the $10,000.00 note would have Chase, as the picture on the front. If you wish, send me a photo of it and I will tell you exactly what you have. I have been collecting, buying and selling coins and notes since 1954 and have only seen that note at the Federal Reserve, on a wall. It could be a bill that somebody made up,counterfeit,or an example of the note, that was made for educational purposes. Unless you are a bank or got the note from a bank, I would be care full about transacting in this note. If all else fails, call the Federal Reserve Bank, in your area, about the note in question. BE CARE FULL!Tom Russano Auctions.
