Question:
Did your employer ask for a copy of your transcript from your college/university or just your gpa?

I was only asked what my gpa was, but my boss never asked for a copy of my transcript.

I just wanted to know how common it was for employers to ask for college transcripts. Did they ask you for a transcript or ask if they can request one from your college? In what case would they request one?

Thanks!

I work for a public company (commercial bank) and I was never required to submit a transcript. I just identified my education experience on the resume and note, I didn't identify my GPA on the resume since it wasn't above 3.2. I did tell them it was a 3.0 average during the interview though.

They did ask about my background and I explained my coursework to them. They wanted to know if I had taken accounting classes. I told them I had taken two but it was not fresh in my memory.

End result: I was still hired.

Hmm.

Two reasons why the employer would have asked your GPA.

1. The employer is seeking highly educated individuals who are smart, responsible, qualified, etc to join there team.

2. The interviewer (your boss) is an A$%*. Loves digrading women and a "low" GPA can be used as an excuse to hire or promote someone else who is more "qualified". Did you get this kind of vibe or other similar questions from your interviewer or boss?

Anyways, considering that this is potential great atmostphere to work at, then yes, you might be required to show a copy of your transcript to show your qualifications for the job. Remind them, if you have something to hide, then lets hope that they forget about it and keep it to yourself.

Don't know if they even looked at it, but I did have to submit my transcript. This was requested several months into my employment; they said they needed it to complete my file. I have copies available so it was no problem.

For the most part, companies request a copy of the transcript because it is an easy way for them to verify that you did in fact attend college, and receive the grade/major stated on your application. Otherwise, they have to call or place a written request for verification, and it takes more time and effort on their part. Of course, if there is any discrepancy on the transcript they still can verify it with the college independently of your submission.

Mostly just GPA. My transcript only if the job was related to my major. Sometimes its easier just to hand it to them since I can't remember my courses off hand. I also think that when you say you've taken courses doesn't have much affect as letting them see in print that you've taken it and scored high. It just seems to make the interview more memorable for them. For example when you came home from school and your parents are more excited when they opened an envelope w/ Honor Roll written all over it than if you have just told them. Or maybe that's just my mom lol!

Are you advantageous your college print the SSN on the respected transcripts? after all black out the SSN. A potential company is basically that: a potential company and that they have no reason to request the SSN. in case you get employed then you definately grant it. word: black it out until now making the replica; any marker on the unique may be bumped off by utilising chemical compounds, additionally UV pictures demonstrate what's below it.
