I manage a restaraunt and we are having problems with motivating our crew to want to beat the standards and work together so they enjoy work more...Me and another manager are getting together to go over ideas as to how we could motivate the crew or some incentives we could give them to strive for being better and enjoying thier job more. Please if you have any suggestions or personal experiences to go off of please let me know if have any ideas.... I would really appreciate any ideas.

Honey, listen; these people hate their jobs..they work with the public in a hectic environment making not much more than minimum wage...I don't think there's anything you could do to improve that type of environment.

When I was working in fast food, we always had monthly contest for suggestive selling, fewest voids, etc. Prizes were usually Visa gift cards or cash. Occasionally the manager would offer to cover one shift for you....with pay, but that was a quarterly goal. If you make the goal too much of a team effort, it will end up causing your hardest workers to carry the load of the "slackers". This can actually demotivate, so be careful. Maybe offer both team rewards and an overall individual reward.

First off, win them over.........ask them for their ideas and suggestions.......make them feel they are important and then put their ideas to use! You might be surprised with your outcome!

Happy Teamwork!
