Ask for teh collection agency's name and address. Tell them that since at least two of their employees have verified it is not you that owes on the account, that you are going to report them for harassment under the Fair Debt Collection practices Act to the FTC. Tell them not to call anymore and that this is an official cease and desist notice under the FDCPA - if they call again, report them.

Why are you still talking on the phone and faxing? Send a certified, return receipt lettter with a copy of the proof they took the funds from your bank account (you should be able to get something from your bank showing they got the money). Emphasize that you have been trying to get this resolved since Feb and this is your final attempt before seeking legal action. If you got no response within 10 working days, get a lawyer.

They will never give up. This happens to thousands of people every day. SOmeone put your phone number on some piece of paper; or someone put yours down by mistake and it will never go away.

First go to www.800NOTES.com with the phone number that is calling you. You will find hundreds of others who are getting calls from the same place. They will tell you what worked and what did not work for them to stop the calls.

Some go to the police department to get someone to call. Others sue in court.

You may have to pay for "Call Rejection" from your phone service. And everytime that GE uses a new number, add it to your "rejected" list..

I would talk to a lawyer post-haste. After 6 months of this crap, you're entitled to recover damages from them.
