I have a column in an excel document that I want to be added up. However I also want to ad some text in the same box next to each number some how telling me what it is. I know I can just make another column but it screws up my whole template and I'm trying to find away around it.

So can a currency box have some sort of text in it or attached to it but still read only the numbers?

What's wrong with just right clicking each cell and inserting a text comment. Works for me in my spreadsheets.

Sorry, one cell can only carry one type of data.

Insert a Column next to the data, with a narrow width. Then use a reference #, as (a), (b), etc., and at the bottom of the schedule you can add all the text you need as a footnote.

Or if that screws up your template, add the reference column at the far right, beyond your template. That should work.

There is no way around it. You cannot have a formula in a cell then write in it also.

Excel will only read a formula - if you write in that cell additional information it

will only reject the formula as not valid.
